Schedule of Classes 2020

Letter Dated March 16th from Steve:

So, I taught class yesterday, it was full. Obviously, my style of teaching is physical and close, and as I woke up this morning,  it was the first time in 24 years of teaching where I wondered if, in this moment of crisis, it was the right thing to do.

If you are supposed to stay six feet away, I stay zero feet away. But I've never feared getting sick from students, and I rarely get sick. I've been teaching like this all these years between 8 and 12 times a week and I mention this for the following reason:

After hitting web research pretty hard I've concluded from the various medical sites that for the fit and healthy Covid is often less scary than the flu. But for some reason, it kills older and vulnerable people way worse than the flu. But here's the gordian knot: they're still trying to figure out whether it transmits before or after symptoms are showing, or if people can transmit it even if they never show symptoms. If they get firm that it does not transmit without symptoms then I will reopen and ask people with symptoms not to come. They're currently still arguing that point. If anybody sees a definitive answer on that, please pitch it to me.

(Adding this March 18th: Asymptomatic transmission is now clearly considered a less potent yet clearly proven method of transmission.)

So, the world is engaged in A GIGANTIC SAVE THE OLD FOLKS AND HOSPITAL TRIAGE PREVENTION PROJECT, and I need to get on board. I'm cancelling all classes until further notice. There's not a lot of us, so I don't sense that we at the Shala need this to go on for too long. We just need to flatten that curve a little. Hopefully just a few weeks. I'll let you know.

I just checked YouTube and I don't exist so there's no media out there from me other than my book. You could read that. But it won't guide you through a practice. This is Kino's hour. Or try David Garrigues. I'll be doing my self practice, and surely you can do yours.

All series will be put on hold.  Take care. Be well. When all this blows over, the Shala will abide.
